Kevin Kelway
Local Author, Journalist, & PR & Marketing Executive

Kevin was born and brought up on Plymouth's historic Barbican where his family has lived for many generations. He went to Plymstock School, and University College of Falmouth where he studied Broadcast Journalism. He stood has a parliamentary candidate for Plymouth Sutton in 1997, and for Plymouth City Council in 1997 and 2000.

He first made his name in the local community in the early 1990′s where he successfully led the campaign for a Model Byelaw for the Waterfront area. He set up the Tinside Action Group to fight for the restoration of the Art Deco Pool that re-opened with a £3.5 million make-over in 2002. His other local campaigns included; the Grade 2 listing of Drake's Reservoir, and Charles Church memorial services and campaigns. He politically fought for the link-up of Gibraltar joining the South West Euro Constituency through a 5,000 signature petition.

Kevin writes a comic strip for the Plymouth Herald every week, and his book 'The Adventures of Larry the Pirate' was recently published. "The cartoon capers were created over 30 years ago when I used to read stories to my younger siblings to get them off to sleep." Kevin is presently the Marketing Executive at Outset Plymouth which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Plymouth City Council to help local start-up businesses with help and support which is provided FREE. He was A4e's South West Media Co-ordinator for nearly 3 years. He also has a background in music and stage. "I am a proud Plymothian and community activist."

Stuart McGhee
City Illustrator & Cartoonist

Born on the shores of the river Clyde in the Scottish town of Greenock and brought up in Plymouth. A freelance illustrator and cartoonist who has always had a skill for drawing and is now earning a living 'from my talents'. Stuart enrolled onto an illustration course at the Plymouth College of Art, where he learnt to hone his talents and progress from doodling to professional illustrations, and teamed up with local author Kevin Kelway to produce the cartoon capers series the Rockhoppas in the Plymouth Herald every Saturday.

Stuart has worked on several published books with his latest works entitled; 'The Adventures of Larry the Pirate' which was recently launched at Waterstones, Drake's Mall Shopping Centre, and soon to appear at Dartmoor Zoo.
